Pilkington Activ™ makes what many people dream of a reality: cleaning windows significantly less often and faster, without the use of environmentally harmful chemical cleaning agents. In addition, the Pilkington Activ™ coating reduces nitrogen oxides and thus contributes to climate protection and air pollution control.

Advantages & features

  • Self-cleaning
  • Wide range of applications
  • Much easier and quicker to clean, even in fair weather (rinsing with low-limescale water is sufficient – no need to rinse with water)
  • Extremely resistant and durable – perfect for outdoor use

Structure & function

  • The outside is provided with a special pyrolytic coating. This reacts with the UV component in daylight and removes organic dirt from the glass.
  • Dissolved dirt is rinsed off the glass with rainwater or by spraying the panes with low-limescale water
  • The special coating is hydrophilic – rainwater spreads as a film on the surface and enables large areas to be self-cleaned
  • The coating reduces nitrogen oxides – a 35 m² surface glazed with Pilkington Activ™ can reduce up to 10 % of the nitrogen oxides emitted by an oil heating system
  • Can be installed as single glass (float, toughened safety glass, laminated safety glass) and insulating glass
